Rajeev Khandelwal on why film on off–beat subjects excite him

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal is back after his last release Shaitan which received great reviews though it wasn’t very well received at the BO. However Rajeev isn’t disheartened as for him it’s the audience reactions that count than figures. Besides Rajeev is now looking forward to reveal a new facet of his persona to the audience in his upcoming film Soundtrack.

His has been one of the most succesful transitions from TV to films in recent times. He made a debut with Aamir, a small budget film and also continued to be a part ofa few off-beat, small budget movies.

So is this an conscious effort? “Firstly, I feel that it is the content and not the budget that decides the quality of a film. Besides there is scope for all kind of cinema, be it commercial or off-beat or any other. The audience today isn’t bothered about the banner. A good story will always be a winner, no matter what,” says Rajeev.

Talking about his film, Rajeev says, “Right from my debut, I decided to do films that allow me to showcase my talent to the fullest. I am an actor who wants to do exciting things and want to be part of good films. Be it Aamir or Shaitan where I play a troubled yet honest cop. With Soundtrack too which a musical film, the journey of an aspirant DJ to a famous, arrogant DJ, it is a transition of the chartacter that excited me. The highs and lows of his life and the cost he pays for it, etc. Also I felt is a modern day revelation which I could portray well.”

Rajeev does not regret having debuted in a mainstream commercial film? “I became an actor not just for money but because I wanted to be part of good cinema. Call it new age cinema or whatever but I won’t do films which audience forgets as soon as they out of theatres!”

Ajay, Aamir clash turns worse!

A tug-of-war has apparently broken out between actors Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, both of whom are sending feelers to each other to shift the release date of their forthcoming films. Both have declared the release date of their films — Aamir's Dhuan (directed by Reema Kagti) and Ajay's Tezz (directed by Priyadarshan) — on Republic Day (January 26) next year.
Both films are important to their respective stars, they're not willing to budge on the date and are clashing for the first time. Each film boast of a stellar cast — Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in Dhuan, and Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut and South star Mohanlal playing significant roles in Tezz.
"There have been feelers from Aamir Khan's camp to Ajay that the release date of his film be moved. They (team from Aamir Khan Productions) have asked for a meeting with Ratan Jain (producer of Tezz) to sort out the release date issue and avert a clash between the two actors," says a source.
Apparently Ajay is in no mood to avert the clash. "Team Aamir says that they had declared the release date long back, and hence they have the right to release the film on Republic Day. They are requesting that Ajay's film be pushed back by another week," the source adds.
On the other hand, several factors have prompted Ajay's team to release the film on that day, and they have apparently decided not to change that now. "We are not shifting the film. First of all, January 26 is a Thursday and we are getting a long weekend for the audience. Any film releasing on that slot is a sure-shot hit. We can't let go off that date. To top it all, we have already moved the date once to accommodate Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar," says a unit member of Ajay's film.
