It seems Vivek Oberoi is in deep trouble, first a severe back injury put the actor in bed and then, the ongoing extortion calls from the fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari, have left him a worried man.Vivek, who tumbled down during the film shoot of 'Zilla Ghaziabad' in Wai, a couple of days back, has sustained serious ligament tear and could be out of action for almost three months. But to add the agony, Vivek is receiving extortion threats from underworld don Ravi Pujari, who is holed up in Indonesia.
The don is demanding a huge protection money of Rs. 2 Crore as per police sources.
Highly placed sources from the Mumbai Police reveal that the conversation between the actor and the gangster, seems to be like a film script. "Saale bahot don bana hai na tu film mein, now listen to me, Khoka de ya tu Khallas. Aaj kal bahot chaap raha hai tu," is what Pujari reportedly told the actor during a recent phonecall.
These very dialogues, spoken by Oberoi in his high profile debut film, Company, made him a name to reckon with and strangely, these are back to haunt him now.
An engineer by profession, Pujari happens to be an educated gangster, who can converse in English, Kannada, Hindi and Marathi.
Though, Pujari has also called up actor turned producer Sohail Khan and producer Ritesh Sidhwani, a police cover for the same has been provided to them.
Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh informed the Juhu police about the calls on Wednesday, which were made from international numbers.
Since the Mumbai Police has sent alerts to the Bollywood fraternity to be cautious, several top notch filmmakers and actors have already opted to switch off their existing mobile numbers.
“Pujari’s threat and extortion calls generally come from satellite and VIP numbers, which start from 910000, 41000 or 3747 series, so an international call is easy to identify. Some celebrities were skeptical of changing numbers, since it would adversely affect their profession, while others obliged by doing so,” concluded a police source.
